Did you know that rabbits can be trained to use the litterbox? Or that bunnies enjoy playing with toys just as much as cats and dogs do?
Hop on down to the Providence Animal Rescue League this weekend as the shelter kicks off Adopt-A-Bunny month. PARL will be hosting a Bunny Day Saturday, February 4th from 11am to 4pm at 34 Elbow St in Providence. The adoption fee for a rabbit is $50.00 which includes the cost of spay/ neuter surgery and a copy of the “House Rabbit Society Care Book.” Staff will be on hand to assist guests and answer questions ranging from rabbit behavior to the care and feeding of your new pet. In addition, owners who bring in a donation from the Rabbit Wish List will be offered a complimentary nail clipping for their lapine friend. During the month of February, spay/neuter services for rabbits will be reduced from $100 to $75; call (401)421-1399 to make your appointment.
"Sometimes there is no rhyme or reason as to why some animals get adopted quicker than others. Our We’re Still Waiting… pets have been awaiting adoption longer others. They are happy, friendly pets that deserve an extra nudge from us to be noticed! This program is our way to help them say “take a look at me, I’m your new forever friend!” PARL website
The Providence Animal Rescue League provides a temporary home for a variety of homeless pets, including rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, hamsters, and the occasional bird or reptile. During 2011, there was a dramatic increase in the number of rabbits in need of new homes. Some of the bunnies available for adoption, such as Moo Moo, spent close to 100 days on the adoption floor, waiting for someone to fall in love with them and bring them home. Come by the League this Saturday or visit www.parl.org/adopt/adoptable-critters for more information.
