A father, who took matters into his own hands after police didn't offer him any help, hit his 15-year-old daughter's teacher with a baseball bat. The father and the mother of this young teen were upset over the amount of text messages that their daughter was receiving from her teacher, all hours of the day and night.
According to The Inquisitr on June 8, the father took this matter up with police after his daughter received a text message at 3 a.m. from the teacher. The police didn't find anything in the content of the messages that was breaking the law in anyway, so they couldn't offer the irate dad any legal recourse.
The 43-year-old teacher came over to the family's house, apparently after learning the text messages he had sent the girl had upset the parents. When the teacher arrived, the father told him to leave, but he didn't. The father grabbed a baseball and hit the teacher with it, which was his way of coaxing him out the door.
The teacher did not press charges in the assault, but apparently he got the message from the outraged dad. Police would not say what was in the messages that upset the father and the mother, but they did say it wasn't anything they'd deem inappropriate.
The parents said that the messages reflected an "emotional relationship" and they feel it was inappropriate for the teacher to text message their daughter on an on-going basis at all hours of the day and night. The Police in Baltimore, who have checked the message disagree with the mother's explanation of the content of the text messages.
The father said it was the quantity of messages that this teacher sent to his daughter that was also disturbing. He said there were "dozens" of texts sent between the teacher and his daughter and most parents would agree that is a bit disturbing even if they are just talking about something generic, like the weather or sports.
It is sad that the dad was left no choice but to strike out physically at the teacher. It sounds as if he was at his wits end. In this day and age, authorities warn that parents should monitor what their kids are texting and who they are texting with.
This is clearly not a normal texting relationship with a male teacher and a female student if he is sending a text message at 3 a.m. to a teen in his class. Many would not blame the father for being so concerned, but picking up a baseball bat is not the answer.
According to ABC News 5, the teacher has been barred from the student's home. The case has been reported to the school board and the Crimes Against Children Unit is investigating this incident today.
