Porsche engineers are slated to assist authorities as they investigate what caused the fatal crash that killed "Fast & Furious" star Paul Walker, 40, and his business partner Roger Rodas, 38, last month in Santa Clarita, Calif., according to a Dec. 18, 2013 Los Angeles Times report.
The accident took place on Nov. 30 following a charity event held by Walker’s organization Reach Out Worldwide after the two men took the 2005 Porsche Carrera GT out for a short drive.
Walker’s official death certificate indicates he died from both burns and trauma, while Rodas’ says he was killed due to trauma.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Capt. Michael Parker told the Times that traffic investigators are slated to meet with Porsche engineers next month to analyze data obtained from the car’s data system.
Parker stated it is still unclear what caused the car to hit a tree, then a light pole and burst into flames, and it has not yet been determined if speed was a factor.
According to the Times, the $400,000 Porche, driven by Rodas, was capable of hitting 60 mph in under four seconds.
