Gene Marshall is back and she's better than ever, at least her wardrobe is! The Every Day's A Holiday Gene Convention took place in Kansas City, Missouri, Aug. 22-25th, 2013, and by Aug. 28, several of the fashions were on display for local doll lovers to enjoy in Nashville at Demos' Restaurant.
Gene fashions for every holiday were to be seen in plastic baggies with a few on dolls to admire. Everything from sweet day dresses to sumptuous evening gowns and dramatic costumes could be seen: bejeweled, beribboned and bedazzling.
Some of the dresses pictured here and in the slideshow include Charming Confection, Enchantment in Purple, Superstition, and the Halloween costume Bewitched complete with pointy hat.
Event-goers received some of the outfits as part of the $400+ convention package, but additional outfits were available for $95, $125 and even higher prices per costume. While these costs might not appeal to most collectors, the dresses are made with an eye to detail and historic accuracy that hits home with some fashion doll enthusiasts. Collectors who might never be tempted to pay for such luxury attire for a doll will still enjoy seeing what the well-heeled doll wears for the holidays. Click on the slideshow for photos.
