Emeli Sandé, winner of the Brit Awards Critics’ Choice Award, is all set to present at the 2013 MTV VMAs. On Aug. 23, ABC revealed on MediaNet that the English-born Scottish recording artist would also perform after the awards, on the set of “Good Morning America.”
Simon Cowell once called Emeli Sandé his favorite songwriter and it’s easy to see why. Her singing and piano playing are superb and spot-on. The year 2012 was a huge one for Sandé. She received the prestigious Critics’ Choice Award at the Brit Awards and performed at both the opening and closing ceremonies of the Summer Olympics (see video above and to the left). Emeli also performed at the White House and covered “Natural Woman” to honor Carole King when she received the Gershwin Prize Award. In the spring, she performed on the “American Idol” finale with contestant Amber Holcomb. Emeli was also featured on “The Great Gatsby” soundtrack with the Bryan Ferry Orchestra. The Huffington Post recently said about Sandé, “You should know who Emeli Sandé is because she’s going to be around for awhile. She’s that good.”
On Thursday, MTV announced that Emeli Sandé would present at the 2013 VMAs, along with newly added Taylor Swift and Drake. Selena Gomez, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jared Leto, Kevin Hart and A$AP Rocky will also present “moonmen” awards to the winners. Justin Timberlake is set to perform with NSYNC and receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. Lady Gaga will open the awards and Katy Perry closes them out.
On Tuesday, after the VMAs, Emile Sandé heads to “Good Morning America” to perform live. Her summer tour wraps up this summer with shows in NYC, Boston, and Philadelphia’s Made In America Fest.
The 2013 MTV Video Music Awards airs at 9 p.m. EST on Sunday, August 25 on MTV. Then, watch Emile Sandé perform live on “GMA” on Tuesday, Aug. 27. “Good Morning America” airs every weekday morning from 7-9 a.m. Musical group Cimorelli and Mandisa from “American Idol” will also perform this week on “GMA.” On Friday, Alicia Keys closes out GMA’s Summer Concert Series with a live concert in Central Park.
