May 1 is the date of quite a few memorable events in the career of Bob Dylan.
Dylan and fans, Adelphi Hotel, Liverpool, 1965
In 1965, Dylan played the Odeon in Liverpool. The scene in Dont Look Back, where Dylan's microphone is unplugged during the opening "The Times,They Are A-Changin' ", comes from this show. Dylan meets with Scaffold members Roger McGough and Mike McGear after the gig. McGear is the brother of Liverpool's own Paul McCartney.
Four years later, Bob Dylan was at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee, for an appearance on the premiere episode of Johnny Cash Show. Dylan sang "I Threw It All Away" and "Living The Blues" to backing tapes. This was immediately followed by a Dylan-Cash duet of "Girl From The North Country". The show, which also featured Joni Mitchell, was broadcast by ABC-TV on June 7, 1969.
The following year, on May 1, 1970, Liverpool's own George Harrison showed up at Columbia Studio B, New York City, just as Dylan was starting to record his New Morning album. At this premiere session, these two future Wilburys were joined by Charlie Daniels on bass and backing vocals, and Russ Kunkel on drums, with producer Bob Johnston occasionally joining in on piano. The version of "If Not For You" found on The Bootleg Series Volume 2 is from these sessions.
Dylan was back in Liverpool on May 1, 2009, for a concert at the Liverpool Echo Arena. He performed Geroge Harrison's most popular song, "Something", for the second time ever. Harrison died in 2001.

And in four days time, May 5th, he married Isis but could not hold on to her very long!!
Saw Dylan on May 5th in Dublin 2009 and i remember thinking he had probably played there more or less to the day back in 1966. This occurred to me when he was doing Desolation Row and She acts like we never have met. Don't know if Dylan is into numerology but he is pretty mystical anyway.
My wife said to me today that Dylan is like listening to The Bible,
I agreed, except he's better
I really like Dylan, no talent fools, ie the critics and just ugly souls in general like to try and tear a good man's reputation down but as Lauren Bacall wrote to the Australian waste of space press back in 1986, Bob Dylan's words and Music will long outlive your ugly reviews, or something like that. Lauren Bacall was married to Humphrey Bogart so i tend to trust what she says.
PS Happy May Day. Nature is alive, time to celebrate.
dylan is like ten thousand years old dealing with those silly scouser teenagers in Don't Look Back. The modern day Dylan bashers remind me of silly Dont Look Back types. All mouth and no brains, they listen but are not capable of hearing.
