Those who purchase the upcoming "Magic: The Gathering" videogame "Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013," created by Wizards of the Coast and Stainless Games, will receive a special code redeemable for one of three six card booster packs of the "Magic 2013 Core Set" that features an alternate art promotional card specific to the game's platform and five other random cards.
Unlike last year's promos (Inferno Titan, Grave Titan, and Frost Titan) this year's cards all feature the expansion set symbol from the core set. Garruk Wildspeaker and Nissa Revane were the original two promo cards from the first installment of the "Duels of the Planeswalkers" franchise.
Xbox 360 players will receive an alternate art Primordial Hydra, while PlayStation 3 players get alternate art Vampire Nocturnus. Both iPad and Steam players will receive an alternate art Serra Avatar.
Redeeming your code to get your promotional six card "M13" booster pack is easy. According to an article by Monty Ashley on DailyMTG.com:
"When a player first launches the game (or goes into the Extras tab), they'll get their code. And when they enter that code on our website, they'll get a voucher to print out. Then they'll take that voucher to a participating store and get a booster. Here's a better look at them!"
You'll have to hurry though because the codes will only be redeemable until December 13, 2012 or when supplies run out.
In an interview with "Magic: The Gathering" Brand Manager Adam Dixon at PAX East, he told us "players will be given the option to tap their own mana" and that "Nicol Bolas is the face of Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013 and he's going to be in the Magic 2013 Core Set." Additionally, it will also be adding the "End Step" to the game.
"Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013" will be available on June 20, 2012.
