'Django Unchained' soundtrack collects spaghetti western classics and surprises

Music has always played a very important role within the films of writer/director Quentin Tarantino.

Whether it was the Blaxploitation themed soul and funk behind the soundtrack to Jackie Brown-"Across 110th Street," anyone?-or the Italian score icons who have made appearances on both Kill Bill and Inglourious Basterds, the musical choices have almost served as dance partners to Tarantino's onscreen action.

That being said, it should come as no surprise that the forthcoming soundtrack to Django Unchained-Tarantino's homage to the spaghetti western, due in theatres on Christmas Day-is set to feature a number of spaghetti score classics amongst more modern, recognizable names for fans.

In addition to including Luis Bacalov's "His Name Was King and his iconic title theme for Sergio Corbucci's 1966 cult western Django, Tarantino's Unchained is also set to include a new piece from legendary composer Ennio Morricone, who provided the stirring, incredible score to Sergio Leone's epic Dollars trilogy of films, starring Clint Eastwood.

Titled "Ancora Qui," the new Morricone composition joins an exclusive 2Pac remix of James Brown's "The Payback" together with material from John Legend, Rick Ross, and Jim Croce to deliver yet another unique and personal selection of Tarantino favorites.

The official motion picture soundtrack to Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained is set to be released December 18th, 2012, with the film itself debuting nationwide on Christmas Day.
