'Divergent' red carpet premiere brings stars out to Emagine Royal Oak Theater

Tuesday night was off the hook at the Emagine Royal Oak Theater in Royal Oak, with the red carpet premiere of the highly anticipated film, "Divergent," taking place. Two of the films stars - Maggie Q and Mekhi Phifer - were there to walk the red carpet, interact with fans, answer questions and promote the new film, that opens everywhere on Friday, March 21.

"Divergent" is often compared to "The Hunger Games" and even "Twilight" as the hot new teen property in Hollywood. The book trilogy by Veronica Roth is set in the future, in Chicago, where the world has been divided into different "factions" based on people's personality traits. It features a heroine, Triss (Shailene Woodley), and of course, a muscular, brooding love interest, Four (Theo James) and is a mix of action, science-fiction and romance.

Maggie Q plays Tori, a sort of mentor to the main character, Triss (Shailene Woodley). Mekhi Phifer plays Max, the leader of Triss's faction.
