Disney Interactive and Marvel announced “Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes Edition” for the PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC and iOS devices on Wednesday. After talking with a press representative, it sounds like the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the figure-based game will get some special features over the rest.
As expected, the PS4 and Xbox One versions of “Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes Edition” will sport higher quality and higher resolution graphics. Presumably, the gameplay that was shown in the trailer released today is reflective of the enhanced graphics the new generation of consoles will receive.
That’s not the limit though. We were also told that the PS4 and Xbox edition of “Disney Infinity” will “allow players to build more complex worlds, bigger toy boxes and support more interactive content.”
But wait, there’s more. While there won’t be any exclusive content for the PS4 and Xbox One, “Disney Interactive may consider for future games when the audience for the consoles is a bit more broad.”
Disney did provide a hint of what that future content may be during the livestream announcement. One of the Disney Princesses was shown holding a Star Wars lightsaber. With “Star Wars: Episode VII” due out in late 2015, that only makes sense for the 3.0 edition of “Disney Infinity”.
Details on the size differences between the worlds on the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U versions versus the PS4 and Xbox One versions haven’t been detailed yet. The world size has already been increased dramatically for “Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Hero Edition” as Marvel Manhattan was revealed to be four times larger than Metroville from the original “Disney Infinity”.
“Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Hero Edition” is due out sometime this fall for all platforms. A Starter Pack with a new base along with Thor, Black Widow and Iron Man will be released for $74.99 along with a new set of power disks and play sets featuring Marvel-themed characters and content.
