News website Infowars has obtained documents that show that the Department of Homeland Security and FEMA are planning to hold exercises this week in which they have to counter an opposition group known as Free Americans against Socialist Tyranny, according to a report from the website on Monday.

As the name implies, this hypothetical opposition group is meant to be composed of libertarians and conservatives.

In the exercise, the agencies will be preparing for a hypothetical earthquake in Alaska in order to test readiness.

According to the scenario established by the documents, titled "DHS/FEMA National Exercise Program - Capstone Exercise 2014 - Scenario Ground Truth," the group Free Americans against Socialist Tyranny believes that the government caused the earthquake and are upset because martial law has been instituted as a result.

The DHS and FEMA will be training to be able to counter this group's efforts at combating martial law via the Internet.

“The U.S. Northern Command mission of Defense Support to Civil Authorities has led to increased activity by some anti-government organizations,” the documents state. “Currently, the most vocal organization is Free Americans against Socialist Tyranny; using social media, they advertise anti-U.S. rhetoric focusing on the Department of Defense as well as to recruit like-minded individuals to join their 'cause'.

“While some Free Americans against Socialist Tyranny members are capable of conducting adverse cyber operations, the greatest threat is current government employees sympathetic to their cause. It is believed that there are employees within US Northern Command, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, National Guard, and Defense Information Systems Agency that may support Free Americans against Socialist Tyranny doctrine based on individual comments on social media sites. Free Americans against Socialist Tyranny sympathizers may include both former and current members of the military with training on satellite communications, computer network defense, network operations, as well as military command and control.”

Infowars obtained the document from someone associated with the organization Oath Keepers, which is made up of military and police veterans throughout the country who seek to uphold their oath to defend the Constitution of the United States.

The documents are marked as being for “trusted agents only” and are to be “disseminated only on a need-to-know basis.”

The DHS has angered many libertarians and conservatives in the past by listing people who hold those views as terrorists and “domestic extremists.”
