Del Bosco wins World Cup ski cross gold in France

According to the Canadian Press, Christopher Del Bosco of Montreal, Quebec won a World Cup men's ski cross gold medal in Val Thorens, France on Thursday.

Del Bosco, who won the 2011 World Championship in men's ski cross at Deer Valley, Utah, recorded his first podium finish of the 2013-14 calendar season.

The race was a little controversial however because it was not completed due to strong winds. Del Bosco only completed the qualification round where he finished second, and the opening heat where he was first.

Daniel Bohnacker of Germany placed second with Victor Oehling Norberg of Sweden placing third.

Del Bosco's gold medal winning performance in France Thursday might still not be strong enough to make the Canadian men's ski cross team at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi however. That is mainly because of his early season struggles and the early season success of David Duncan of London, Ontario and Brady Leman of Calgary. For Del Bosco to make the Canadian Olympic team, he will need another excellent performance in Val Thorens on Friday.
