Day of reckoning near for America

Everything points to a dreaded "day of reckoning" for America that many observers say is much closer than anyone realizes. That day only approaches more quickly, with lightening speed, each time the politicians unleash on the citizens their arrogance concerning the unalienable rights, particularly the gun rights, of citizens.

In Colorado, for example, where the Democrat controlled state legislature has proposed a sweeping gun ban bill that would strip citizens of the right to self defense and take the standard hunting shotgun out of the hands of hunters, a state legislator berated a rape survivor for claiming her chances for survival would have increased significantly if she had possessed a gun.

Amanda Collins, a rape survivor, testified before the Colorado State Senate to tell her story of survival in the midst of a potentially deadly encounter with a rapist, only to have state Sen. Evie Hudak, a Democrat, launch into a demeaning, scolding tirade during which she claimed that statistics do not back up Collins' claims that having a gun would have enhanced her chances to escape the encounter without being raped.

The meme used by Sen. Hudak and many others has been proved false. Dr. John Lott, noted author and university professor, proved in his monumental work, "More Guns, Less Crime," that the so-called "study" cited by anti-gun activists used falsified statistics.

Anti-gun proponents often claim that having a gun in your home is more likely to get you shot by an intruder, and that women who are assaulted by rapists are more likely to die if they are armed. Both claims have been proved to be false, and the study from which they come has been thoroughly discredited by anyone who can use the basics of the scientific method of inquiry.

At issue, however, is the manner in which elected officials, who supposedly work for the taxpayers, arrogantly batter about the dumb, unwashed masses of ordinary citizens who are so ignorant as to actually believe that the Constitution is the final rule of law in the land.

The berating tone has not only been used by Hudak but by many others, including Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Dianne Feinstein, Charles Schumer, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, and a host of others at the state and local levels.

One local elected official even went as far as to claim that the Second Amendment does not apply to the states but only to Congress and the federal government. But the Bill of Rights applies to all of the states without equivocation. The very fact that the 10th Amendment itself, which delineates the rights of the States, is part of the same bill that contains the First and Second Amendments, for example, shows that the rights enumerated and protected in the entire bill is for the entirety of the American people. State laws, for example, that have been found to violate the rights enumerated in the Bill of Rights, have been struck down, particularly in the years prior to judicial activism and overreach.

But what does all of this mean for America and its future? Can the nation withstand the constant, relentless barrage of attacks on our very founding principles? Yes, it can, but not without significant pain.

A day of reckoning is very near for America. There will be rioting in the streets, bloodshed, and the cold chill of fear. The reason? Patriots will never stand for what many politicians are doing with regard to gun rights. They will go to war with their own government, and even die if necessary, to prevent elitists such as Sen. Hudak from belittling the citizens who not only gave her a job but pay her salary.

The citizens are within a hair's breadth of using force to oust such persons from office, beginning at the local level and extending all the way to the Halls of Congress.

And in an era when the ire of citizens is so intense that they refer to Barack Obama as a Hitler-styled dictator and the Supreme Court as "black robed scoundrels," no tyrant in any public office is safe from being ousted.

The patriotic citizens did not initiate this. Government oppressors did by ignoring and then flying in the face of the Bill of Rights. It is getting awfully close to a day of reckoning for the offenders.
