I admit it. I love “Dancing with the Stars.”
I always look forward to hearing who the new guest celebrities will be on the popular TV show and learning which pro dancer will be paired up with which new partner for the season.
I also love cruising. So I was doubly happy when I heard that Holland America is combining the two for an exciting new cruise theme – “Dancing with the Stars: At Sea.”
In 2013 and 2014, the Holland America Line will feature exclusive “Dancing with the Stars” events including dance lessons, a chance to meet the dancers and guest celebrities, plus dazzling stage productions with all their glitzy costumes and astounding routines.
But the next part of the program is even more fantastic – a chance to win a free cruise by showing off your own dancing skills. Woo hoo!
The new celebrity dancers and their professional partners for the popular TV show were announced this week. Today, Holland America announced the dancers who will be aboard their championship cruises in January.
Holland America will be featuring a “Dancing with the Stars” program on every sailing of their 15 ships. That’s where passengers can learn to dance the quickstep, the paso doble, the tango, the waltz – those dances they have been watching on the TV program. The ship’s entertainment crew will be teaching those shipboard classes.
Then – the exciting part – winners of each sailing’s dance-off will get to dance center stage during one of the cruise’s performances and will be entered in a Grand Champions Cruise in January. The top scoring dancers on the 15 cruise ships will win a free cruise for the Jan. 12 grand finale.
The overall winner from all the finalists on that January cruise will get a trophy and title as cruise line champs.
Heck with that mirror ball trophy on the TV show. I’d sure rather have that Holland America cruise.
Both seven-day Caribbean cruises are onboard ms Nieuw Amsterdam.
While onboard, the dancers will perform for guests, dazzling the audience with dance numbers from the television series. Additional events on the theme cruises include dance lessons with the shipboard professional dancers, a special fashion show featuring the glamorous show costumes, and a chance to meet the dance pros and celebrities, ask questions and take photos with them.
The Jan. 12 Champions Cruise will feature 15 winning guests (one from each ship) from the “Dancing with the Stars: At Sea” competitions that are currently being held on all ships in the Holland America Line fleet. Holland America Line has also featured four “Dancing with the Stars: At Sea” theme cruises already this year.
The winning guests and their professional shipboard dance partners will perform in the main show lounge for guests, as well as Johnson, MacManus and Bryan. The winning couple will walk away with the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy and title of Holland America Line’s “Dancing with the Stars: At Sea” Champion.
The Jan. 5 cruise sails to the eastern Caribbean with calls at Grand Turk, Turks & Caicos Islands; San Juan, Puerto Rico; St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, and the line’s award-winning private island, Half Moon Cay, Bahamas. The Jan. 12 Champions Cruise visits the western Caribbean with calls at Half Moon Cay; George Town, Grand Cayman, and Key West, Fla.
