It was reported on May 9, 2013, that an Australian couple went overboard from a cruise ship off the coast of southeastern Australia. According to United Press International the couple either fell or jumped overboard.

"When a search of the ship failed to locate the pair, officers reviewed CCTV footage, which showed them going overboard from the mid-deck at 8:50 p.m. local time Wednesday."

The couple, Paul Rossington, 30, and Kristen Schroder, 27, were missing when the ship reached the Sydney cruise terminal. New South Wales police are searching for the couple. They do not believe that their disappearance is at all suspicious. The search effort is being focused in an area between Sydney and the Gold Coast.

This incident occurred onboard the Carnival Spirit cruise ship. It is just another in a string of bad events plaguing the cruise line so far in 2013. The Carnival Triumph cruise ship caught fire in February and in April they said that they would pay back the United States government for costs related to a fire. The U.S. Coast Guard escorted the ship back to shore.
