Supporters of Glenn Beck and his television network, TheBlaze, are swamping Time Warner Cable's Facebook page with thousands of messages and posts of disappointment and anger after the cable system refused to add Beck's network to their lineup, opting for Arab news network Al Jazeera instead.
This afternoon, a story by Erica Ritz on TheBlaze.com announced that Time Warner Cable would be adding the Al Jazeera America news network to their cable lineup, while deciding to pass over TheBlaze. Time Warner had also just added the Revolt Channel, started by Sean "Diddy" Combs. The channel additions to Time Warner come after thousands of TheBlaze supporters asked the cable provider to add it to their offerings.
Despite tens of thousands of calls, emails and social posts requesting TheBlaze, Time Warner Cable has decided to add four other networks, including Al Jazeera America, to their lineup.
Take Action: Call 1.800.996.2529 and tell TWC how disappointed you are that they won't add TheBlaze. Make your request public by posting on the Time Warner Cable Facebook Page. More voices, not less: #GetTheBlaze.
That was all Beck's supporters needed to hear, as they began flooding Time Warner Cable's Facebook page by the thousands, taking over each post (regardless of subject) to voice their support of TheBlaze. Facebook user John Marble posted "Really disappointed Time Warner added Al Jazeera America without considering adding TheBlaze."
Gary DeBiase echoed the sentiments of many by posting "Add The Blaze !!! Your bias is showing, you were stupid enough to add a terrorist propaganda channel like Al Jazeera that nobody watches, but refuse to add a channel that will get monster ratings like The Blaze. Ill be canceling if its not added by my next billing cycle." Many others threatened to cancel their cable if TheBlaze was not added, and switch to satellite carriers like Dish Network, that do carry TheBlaze. Still others only posted the hashtag "#GetTheBlaze."
Al Jazeera America has been criticized for its pro-radical Muslim stance in reporting the news. TheBlaze also reported that Al Jazeera America likely is paying Time Warner Cable to be included in their cable lineup, a rare arrangement. Time Warner Cable has not yet responded to the spontaneous protest campaign.
