Crab Cake 2014: Expat Maryland celebrities throw Los Angeles crab feast

On Sunday, August 17th from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. an array of displaced, Los Angeles living Maryland celebrities are throwing their 2nd annual crab feast with all the trimmings at Hollywood’s No Vacancy Bar and Lounge.

During a recent interview with celebrity chef Duff Goldman of Food Network’s Ace of Cakes fame and Charm City Cakes the question about missing steamed crabs now that he lives in Los Angeles was brought to the table. Goldman lights up and says, “Funny you should ask that.” Duff continued on to say that last year a handful of Maryland expats put on a full blown crab feast to benefit the Los Angeles Mission. Crab Cake 2013 was a huge success with steamed crabs, crab cakes, peel-n-eat shrimp, hush puppies, corn on the cob, potato salad and Duff’s Smith Island Cake. There was even Flying Dog Beer from Maryland to whet everyone’s spicy crab seasoned whistle.

Along with Chef Goldman here are Crab Cake 2014’s cast of celebrity characters:

Chef Michael Voltaggio owner of ink. and ink.sak in Los Angeles and winner of season 6 Top Chef.

Chef Bryan Voltaggio who has his appeared on Top Chef and Top Chef Masters, owns restaurants in Maryland and Washington DC (Volt, Range and Aggio).

Musician Joel Madden and his twin brother Benji Madden of good charlotte are former Waldorf, Maryland natives.

Actor Ben Feldman who many will recognize him from his role on Drop Dead Diva and as Michael Ginsburg on Mad Men whose character thought the computers were after him during this past season. Feldman who is from Washington, DC and Maryland suburbs has two culinary ties; his aunt is celebrated Chef Susan Feninger of the Food Networks earlier culinary show, Two Hot Tamales and he is co-owner of a wine label called Angelica Cellars.
