Tom Cruise is no stranger to controversy. However, today’s story, Mar. 15, 2013, in the New York Post is raising eyebrows. It seems that Demi Moore may not be the most famous cougar after all. Not only did an unlikely match take place in the mid-80s between Cher at 39, and Tom Cruise at 23, but Cher admitted to falling in love with him. This was before he married Mimi Rogers, who was seven years older that Cruise. It was marriage to Rogers that hooked him on Scientology.
In a Page Six report it was noted:
Turns out that Cher had a brief romance with a 16-years-younger Cruise at the start of his career. The singer was 39 at the time and admitted that she was smitten with the then 23-year-old. It’s said they met at a White House event in the mid-eighties after his hit film “Risky Business.” Tom Cruise and Cher dated in the 80s, singer admits ‘I loved him’
Cruise and his Scientology marriages
Cruise has not fared well with Scientology and its effect on the women he married. Wives for Cruise were reportedly hand-picked and expected to conform to Scientology. Nicole Kidman did not conform and she lost custody of their children. Katie Holmes safely brought Suri Cruise, 6, out of the clutches of Scientology by pulling the rug out from under Cruise.
The Village Voice has revealed that Cruise worships the Scientology leader and appears to be addicted to all things Scientology. Cher never had a chance.
