The appearance, which had been rumored for weeks, will be included in the CBS special “The Night They Changed America” airing on Feb. 9. McCartney and Starr performed together at a tribute concert in Los Angeles Monday that will be included in the special. The original rumors had the two appearing on “Late Show With David Letterman.”

Billboard said a source confirmed that McCartney originally wasn't in favor of being involved in the concert to pay tribute to the Fab Four, and didn't decide until mid-January after talking to two Americans in his inner circle that he should do the show.

Besides the two Beatles, Monday's show in Los Angeles included performances by Joe Walsh, Peter Frampton, Steve Lukather, Dave Grohl, Jeff Lynne of ELO, Dhani Harrison, the Imagine Dragons, Katy Perry, Eurythmics Dave Stewart and Annie Lennox, Pharell Williams and the Cirque DuSoleil troupe “LOVE.”

McCartney also performed at Sunday's Grammy Awards, where he took home five Grammy Awards for three separate projects – the deluxe “Wings Over America” reissue, the “Live Kisses” video and his collaboration with former Nirvana members on “Sound City: Reel to Reel.”
