Although the Colorado House has passed a bill mandating that every student and staff member on Colorado college campuses be rendered disarmed and defenseless, there is no need to worry--the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs Department of Public Safety knows just how to prevent (the now-to-be forcibly disarmed by the government) women from being raped. From the International Business Times (note, this advisory was apparently posted Monday evening, just after the House vote, but had already provoked such an angry outcry as to cause it to be withdrawn by Tuesday):
Some of the pieces of advice which were updated Monday evening on the university's public safety website are ones that many would find familiar, from running away without looking back to "yelling, hitting or biting" your attacker.
But the following two suggestions are a little stranger and are already causing quite the outcry on social media: "Tell your attacker that you have a disease or are menstruating," and "Vomiting or urinating may also convince the attacker to leave you alone."
Say . . . that sounds familiar--where could I have seen that? Oh, yeah--the advice once posted by the Illinois State Police, suggesting that women vomit, or tell their sexual assailant that they have HIV (and what if the assailant says, "No problem--so do I"?). ISP eventually realized how deeply offensive that was to many women, and "disappeared" that advice, but the internet never forgets.
Well, shockingly, some women are strangely resistant to the idea of trusting to a would-be rapist's fastidiousness as a defense, but Colorado state Representative Joe Salazar (D-for "Defenseless by State Mandate") is ready to tell those little ladies that they're just simply not qualified to defend themselves. From Revealing Politics:
“It’s why we have call boxes, it’s why we have safe zones, it’s why we have the whistles. Because you just don’t know who you’re gonna be shooting at,” Salazar remarked in debate late Friday night. “And you don’t know if you feel like you’re gonna be raped, or if you feel like someone’s been following you around or if you feel like you’re in trouble when you may actually not be, that you pop out that gun and you pop … pop around at somebody.
The video (just over a minute) can be seen here.
As it turns out, that's familiar, too, from the (now withdrawn) Illinois State Police advice to women:
Use of a firearm to protect yourself or property is not recommended.
. . .
Half of all the women that fire a gun trying to protect themselves shoot someone they do not want to, i.e., friends. neighbors, relatives, etc."
The ISP never cited a source for that . . . remarkable (not necessarily a polite remark) statistic, by the way.
Rep. Salazar has a powerful ally to reinforce his message to women about they're inability to effectively employ armed self-defense. President of Vice Joe Biden himself tells women that so-called "assault weapons" (which the Department of Homeland Security calls "Personal Defense Weapons," at least when they have the capability of fully-automatic fire) are too much for them--a double-barreled shotgun is what they need (see video below article). From National Review:
“If you want to protect yourself, get a double-barreled shotgun.” “You don’t need an AR-15, it’s harder to aim, it’s harder to use [Oh, really?],” he stressed.
Biden indicated that he has given his own wife the same advice. “I said, ‘Jill, if there’s ever a problem, just walk out on the balcony here, put that double-barreled shotgun and fire two blasts outside the house,’” he said, and urged viewers, in closing, “Buy a shotgun, buy a shotgun!”
Yep--he really said that. Knowing that he was on camera, he really said that his advice to women under attack is to fire every available round (because a double-barreled shotgun has a two-round capacity)--away from their assailant(s). He claims to have given that advice to his own wife--is he hoping to become a widower?
Salazar and Biden are far from alone in waging the forcible citizen disarmament lobby's War on Women, and ridiculing their right to defend themselves with strictly semi-automatic versions of what DHS calls "Personal Defense Weapons." National Gun Rights Examiner David Codrea notes that the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence has gone so far out on the pro-rapist limb as to refer to those who oppose their forcible female disarmament agenda as "white gun nuts."
It is nothing less than misogynist evil to try to deceive women into believing that would-be rapists can be deterred by their chosen victim vomiting, nearly as effectively as by the fear of themselves bleeding.
