A Clown terrorizes a town in Northampton by doing nothing but standing around looking evil. According to the Huffington Post on Sept. 18, the creepy clown has been showing up and standing around in different parts of the town since Friday the 13th.
Quite honestly, the clown is breaking no laws and isn't bothering anyone. He is just wandering the town and taking the time to freak out anyone who happens to have the misfortune of walking anywhere near him.
Clowns are already one of the most polarizing figures in popular culture, and there is even a phobia associated with them called Coulrophobia, the fear of clowns. This makes the idea of a clown terrorizing a town more of a cause for panic than a mime.
Of course, there are also cases in popular culture where clowns are seen as evil, such as Pennywise in the classic Stephen King novel and movie "It." There is also the very real horror case of serial killer John Wayne Gacy who was nicknamed the "Killer Clown" thanks to his side job as Pogo the Clown at children's parties.
In this case, it is just someone being obnoxious. He isn't bothering anybody and isn't speaking. He doesn't make balloon animals or honk a horn. He just stands there with an evil smile while carrying a clown teddy bear as well.
In this case, the clown terrorizes a town by just existing, and being really creepy.
