AEG is the parent company of Examiner.com which also owns the Nokia and Staple Centers along with the Regent Theater chain. CJ 4DPlex is the company based in Seoul.

The deal is done and Monday was a photo op to show the two companies are happy with their partnership. This partnership is not only good for these two super companies, but it’s also good for film goers.

4DX is an immersive experience. If you’ve ever thought about actually being in the film you’re watching, this is about as close as you’ll get. Some of the things that will perk up your senses are; motion, wind, strobe, fog, vibration, mist, rain and even scent-based special effect. This goes way beyond 3D. This is the whole enchilada and a bag of chips.

With all of the above available to be experienced in a blockbuster film, Regal Cinemas L.A. Live Stadium 14 will be even more of a destination theater than it is right now. AEG’s Shelby Russell, Vice President, L.A. Live Marketing revealed:

Along with the Staple Center and the Nokia Theater, the CJ 4DPlex’ 4D auditorium will bring another iconic brand to L.A. Live. People will come to their concert or dinner early or stay late to catch a blockbuster film in 4DX.

When asked about the 'smell' feature of the 4DX experience JC 4DXPlex CEO CJ 4DXPlex, Mark Shaw, stated that:

It's up to the producers to decide what they want to be in the theater for their film. However, it probably wouldn't be a problem, they don't have any zombie smell ... so far.

The timeframe that AEG and CJ 4DPlex have planned for this new auditorium is this year during the summer blockbuster season. It hasn’t been decided which film gets the honor of being the first film shown in Los Angeles in 4DX. The theater has a wonderful selection of films to pick from this summer.

The first film ever to be shown in 4DX was “Avatar” in 2010. That must have been a mind-blowing experience!
