Christopher Dorner exchanged fire as law enforcement moved in (Photos)

On Feb. 12, Christopher Dorner has finally been cornered by law enforcement in Big Bear, California, according to TMZ in a developing story.

Dorner has allegedly been using smoke bombs to try to keep police at bay in a scary scene that is said to have already harmed two members of the police force.

The Los Angeles Times concurs with TMZ, saying, "Accused killer Christopher Dorner is surrounded by police inside a Big Bear area cabin."

The newspaper of record in the City of Angels says that Dorner engaged in "a gun battle that left two San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputies wounded."

An LA Times source said a deputy has been shot by Dorner who "fired out of the cabin." The paper said that another deputy "was injured when Dorner exited the back of the cabin, deployed a smoke bomb and opened fire again in an apparent attempt to flee." At that point, the alleged killer was forced to go back inside.

In another matter that seems to be related, a Big Bear couple suffered a robbery inside their home in the Southern California resort town in which they were tied up only to be released when the intruder, said to be Dorner, left. After this happened, a white Dodge pickup, which may be a vehicle that Dorner has been driving and which may be owned by the Big Bear couple who were robbed, was used as the getaway vehicle.

TMZ reports, "A State Fish and Game ranger fired on the vehicle."

By way of background, the Christopher Dorner manhunt has been ongoing for the better part of a week, during which time Charlie Sheen called for Dorner to get in touch with the actor. This didn't happen but by the time the plea came from Sheen on February 9, Dorner had already been traced to Big Bear.

At this point in this manhunt, officers in charge are saying that they are ready to get their man. If that's so than Christopher Dorner will likely be brought in dead of alive. Stay tuned as this is a deadly situation that is happening on the outskirts of Los Angeles as of this writing.

Update: TMZ reports that the FAA has put "Temporary Flight Restrictions" into play in and around Big Bear "due to the gun battle. Only law enforcement aircraft can fly in the restricted area."

The restricted area is defined as being "5 miles in radius, from the ground up to 13,000 feet above sea level, which is about 5,000 feet above ground level."

Further update: According to CNN, one of the officers harmed during this shootout has died at Loma Linda Hospital where he was airlifted after the on-going Dorner incident. A news conference is pending. This conference from Loma Linda will air on news channels very soon.
