Just in time for the holidays: A Christmas tree recall. If you thought you were making things easier on yourself buying a pre-lit tree from Menards made by "Enchanted Forrest", things just got a little more complicated.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission says, "Menards has received two reports of the tree’s light strings overheating, melting or smoking." So if this tree is in your house, step one: UNPLUG it!
Step two: Take off all the ornaments, the star on top, the tinsel, drag out all the presents underneath, try to prevent your kids from having a melt down, pack up the tree and bring it back to Menards for a full refund.
Step three: Get a new tree, surely some must be on sale now so close to Christmas. Drag it home.
Step four: Put on all the ornaments again, put the star back, all that tinsel, stick the presents back under the tree, wipe the tears from your kid's eyes and tell them Santa is on his way.
For complete recall details go to the CPSC official notice.
The tree was sold Menards stores nationwide and online at www.menards.com from September 2013 through November 2013 for about $300.
