Christina Aguilera flaunts 35-pound weight loss: Her low-carb diet and workout

Christina Aguilera's dramatic weight loss and sizzling opening skit was the talk of the 2014 People's Choice Awards Jan. 8.

In the pre-taped opening number, Aguilera plays a sexy waitress alongside Beth Behr and Kat Dennings. Christina's glittery yellow and red uniform spotlighted the singer's jaw-dropping 35-pound recent weight loss.

Aguilera did not attend the 2014 People's Choice Awards, but her skit was one of the most talked-about events of the entire evening.

Christina, 33, has made global headlines for losing over 35 pounds during the past few months. Her shocking transformation has fueled rumors that she has resorted to weight-loss surgery (including liposuction) and has been starving herself on extreme diets.

Aguilera has slammed the tabloid rumors, insisting that her weight loss was the result of a low-carb diet and yoga workouts. Her reps said Aguilera is furious over speculation that she resorted to liposuction, extreme dieting and excessive exercise to slim down.

"Christina did not get lipo," said her rep. "She’s worked hard to change her eating habits, and you can see the results. The last thing Christina wants to hear is that people are talking about her losing weight with liposuction. She’s sick and tired of people assuming things about her body."

Aguilera's low-carb diet reportedly combines high-quality fats like avocado with lean proteins such as chicken breast or fatty fish such as salmon and includes healthy snacks like almond butter with celery. Christina limits carbs and dairy and eats small amounts of cheese and drinks lots of coconut water.

Aguilera has long brushed off fat-shaming comments, saying they don't bother her, but admitted that working out makes her feel great.

In May 2008, Christina lost 40 pounds just four months after giving birth to son Max by combining cardiovascular workouts and weight-lifting for 90 minutes a day, five days a week, and following a low-carb, high-protein diet.

"As you feel your body getting stronger, you become more motivated to be in the gym!" she said. "It doesn’t matter how big or small you are. When you’re defined, it’s sexy. I exercise because it makes me feel good."
