Brown, 24, and his body guard were arrested around 4:30 Sunday morning outside the W Hotel at 15th and Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington when he reportedly punched a 20-year old man who tried to take a picture with Brown. He was charged with an assault felony on Parker Adams of Beltsville, Maryland.
He had to wait until early Monday morning to see a judge. After a day and a half in custody the Grammy Award-winning R&B singer was released to face cheers from a crowd of his fans.
Brown's lawyer, Danny Onorato, said outside court Monday that his client committed no crime. He also stated:
"We understand that his security acted to protect Mr. Brown and Mr. Brown's property as he was authorized to do under District of Columbia law. We are confident that Mr. Brown will be exonerated of any wrongdoing."
Brown had been in D.C. to host a Howard University Homecoming after party.
