Chloe Grace Moretz joins 'If I Stay'

Collider is reporting today that an adaptation of Gayle Forman’s young adult novel “If I Stay,” that has been years in the making, is finally going to come to light.

At first Catherine Hardwicke (“Twilight”) was set to direct, but then she left and Heitor Dhalia stepped up with Dakota Fanning (“Man on Fire”) set to star.

After they both dropped out the project was left dormant until now; Chloe Moretz (“Kick-Ass”) has signed on to star with RJ Cutler (TV’s “Nashville”) set to direct.

The book focuses on Mia (Moretz), a 17 year old cellist destined for Julliard before a car accident send her into a coma, and the majority of the story is told through the eyes of Mia in an out-of-body perspective.

Chloe is an incredible talent for someone so young, and I think she can really make this come together, and the musical aspect of the film makes Cutler a great choice for director.

Her star is still on the rise, and that should encourage the studio to jump on this for a quick turnaround.
