Channing Tatum's weight gain doesn't bother him at all: 'I'm very fat and happy'

Channing Tatum isn't bothered by his recent weight gain, he said on the Ellen DeGeneres Show Feb. 6.

"Me and my wife like to say I am very fappy: I'm very fat and happy right now," said Tatum, who still looks great.

The chiseled 6-foot-1 Channing said he put on a few pounds after taking some time off from work to be with his wife, actress Jenna Dewan Tatum, and their daughter Everly, who was born in June 2013.

"I've been working for two straight years and now it's some really needed down time," said Tatum, 33.

Channing is enjoying parenthood, and is thrilled that Everly has begun sleeping better and moving around more. He joked that Everly has already developed good taste in music.

"She's sleeping now too," he said. "She actually has better taste in music than I do. Because she will only fall asleep to really good music."

Tatum's wife, Jenna Dewan, recently revealed she lost 33 pounds just seven weeks after giving birth. Jenna credited cardio-dance workouts and a vegan diet for her rapid weight loss. She said she and Channing get along really well despite following totally different diets.

"We are complete polar opposites that way," said Jenna. "Sometimes I can drag Channing to my vegetarian/vegan restaurants. He politely eats, then promptly goes home and eats what he really wants. Opposites attract!"

One thing the Tatums agree on is they will never medicate their daughter if she's diagnosed with a learning disability like dyslexia or ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), both of which Channing had as a child.

Growing up, Channing experienced severe depression as he built up a tolerance for his ADHD medication and the drugs became progressively less effective.

"For a time, it would work well, then it worked less and my pain was more," he said. "I would go through wild bouts of depression, horrible comedowns. I understand why kids kill themselves. I absolutely do. You feel terrible. You feel soul-less. I’d never do it to my child.”
