During yesterday's NFC Championship game in Chicago, Bears quarterback Jay Cutler left the game in the second half with an apparent knee injury. Many NFL players took to their phones and social media to attack Cutler. One particular stinging tweet came from Arizona Cardinals defensive tackle Darnell Dockett who said
"If I'm on chicago team jay cutler has to wait till me and the team shower get dressed and leave before he comes in the locker room!"
Dockett wasn't alone in his stinging criticism of Cutler, who led the Bears to the second seed in the NFC by winning the NFC Central Division. Players from many teams piled on, questioning Cutler's toughness and commitment to his team. Team captain Brian Urlacher was quick to defend his quarterback, emphatically telling SI.com, "I don't give a [expletive] about players around the league who are watching the game from home. It's easy to talk [expletive] about someone while you're sitting on your couch watching the game. That's all I'm saying. I don't understand it. I don't get it. Let them sprain their MCL -- or do whatever he did to his knee -- and let them get back in the game. Let's see them do that, see how well they run the ball, or see how well they do at whatever position they play. I don't agree with it. It's easy to write that stuff on the Internet."
Whether you're a Bears fan or not, it's hard to question a player when you're sitting at home watching the game on television. Urlacher is right - players rarely criticize one another, especially before a game is even over. In Dockett's case, here's a player who was supposed to be the anchor of an Arizona Cardinals defense that gave up 27 points per game (third worst in the NFL) and fell from two-time NFC West Champions to last in the division with a 5-11 record in 2010.
While Dockett's comments might be entertaining, many Cardinals fans would prefer Dockett concentrate on helping return the Arizona defense to a higher level of competitiveness next season.
- An interesting aside, Dockett was named to the NFC Pro Bowl squad over the weekend. I wonder if he and Urlacher (among three Bears on the NFC roster) might have a discussion or two about the situation????

Dockettt, look in the mirror, you took off games this year too.
It really bums me out when professionals stoop to this kind of mouthing-off.
Darnell, Listened to what you said on ESPN. What college did you go to? When you talk, you always say "You Know" after each sentence. No I don't know, so quit asking "You Know". If writers would write exactly what you say, 25% of their article would be "You Know". You know what I mean.
Darnell is a loser and has always been a loser. That's why when his playing career is over the rest of the league will be the laughing at him.
I hope Urlacher let's him have it in the Pro Bowl. This is a classless moron who doesn't even know it. If he wasn't playing football he'd be cleaning windows for a living.
