"Call of Duty: Ghosts" is back on top of the UK Sales charts according to numbers released on December 2. The game takes back the #1 spot one week after falling behind "FIFA 14."
It appears that the next generation consoles have helped sales of the game immensely, especially when taking into account that the PS4 is the fastest selling console in the history of gaming. That doesn't mean that "FIFA 14" was really struggling when it came to selling copies. The ultra-popular soccer game simply fell to second on the sales charts.
The rest of the chart is a hodge podge of games that have all been mentioned as the most popular or the newest, including a couple of games that are only available on one of the two next generation consoles. "Killzone" is one of those games that is only available on the Sony platform and it had a pretty impressive launch, debuting at #4 on the list. On the flipside, "Dead Rising 3" is available only on the Xbox One. It debuted in the top 5 but fell out of the top 10 this week.
Since it's release, "Call of Duty: Ghosts" has been doing battle with "Battlefield 4" for the attention of war simulations. "Battlefield 4 placed at number 3 on this week's sales charts. That means that it appears that COD has officially won that particular battle, though just by a hair.
"Grand Theft Auto 5" continues to be the juggernaut that just won't die. While it is no longer anywhere near the top of the list the fact that its still humming along in the in the number 7 spot shows just how popular that title really is. That game still isn't impressing the way that "Call of Duty: Ghosts" is impressing. There were quite a few critics who had little nice to say about the title.
That makes "Call of Duty: Ghosts" the title that has proved the doubters wrong, at least when it comes to popularity among the average gamer.
