Burt Bacharach tribute with Kama Ruby and Company tonight at The Padre

Fans of pop music know the name of Burt Bacharach well from his string of hits during the 60s through the 80s. Tunes like Do You Know the Way to San Jose, Walk on By, This Guy's in Love with You, and many more routinely topped the pop music charts as well as being critically acclaimed. Local jazz vocalist Kama Ruby is one of those fans and will be presenting a concert of some of her favorite Bacharach tunes tonight at The Padre Hotel.

Ms. Ruby has been intrigued by the music for the last two years or so and thought it would be a great idea to put together a small group of musicians to perform the music live, both for long-time fans familiar with the tunes and newcomers who may have grown up long after the material was released.

Joining her tonight will be Jeff Rosbrugh on piano, Steve Eisen (CEO of the Bakersfield Jazz Workshop) on trumpet, and Glen Fong on bass. Los Angeles area vocalist Arthur Ross was originally slated to appear on a few songs as well, but, an unforeseeable event came up and he will be unable to be there.

The concert is free to the public and will be held in the Prospect Lounge from 8:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.
