A building super from Rye New York was sentenced yesterday, Tuesday, Jan.15, for sexually abusing a tenant’s white Labrador puppy, according to reports from “USA Today”.
Gunner, the 1-year-old white male Labrador at the time of the assault and victim of the sexual abuse belongs to Alan Kachalsky, who suspected something was off in his apartment after noticing a window left ajar and blinds drawn for months, back in the early part of 2012. Although nothing was missing, the owner of the puppy set up three video cameras and was shocked when he witnessed Kujtim Nicaj, 44, entering his apartment to have sex with his dog on tape.
Alan Kachalsky turned over the video to police on February 9, 2012 and Kujtim Nicaj plead guilty this past October to burglary and sexual misconduct charges. The Rye New York building superintendent was sentenced to six and a half years in prison with seven years of probation for sexually abusing a male dog. Nicaj will have to register as a sex offender after serving his time.
The Westchester County Judge who sentenced the puppy abuser, Barry Warhit, berated Kujtim Nicaj for his mistreatment and cruelty of the Labrador with his inexcusable behavior.
However, the happy and friendly white Lab is back to his normal, jovial self, suffering no long-term physical damage at the hands of his abuser, upon examination by a vet.
Steven Davidson, lawyer for Kujtim Nicaj, convicted puppy abuser, may appeal the sentence calling it “unfair”. The building super sentenced for sex abuse with the tenant’s Labrador worked at the Rye Colony Cooperative Apartment Complex for six years, lending to an unthinkable thought: How many other animals may have been a victim of at the hands of Nicaj’s sexual assault?
