Bruce Jenner isn't getting a sex-change operation, but is addicted to plastic surgery, sources close to his family told TMZ.
Jenner, 64, recently made headlines after undergoing a laryngeal shave, a plastic-surgery procedure that flattens the Adam's apple. The operation is usually a precursor to a sex-change operation, but Bruce's estranged wife, Kris Jenner, has slammed those rumors as tabloid lies.
"[The sex-change operation] is a story that they keep regurgitating from the '70s," said Kris. "Ninety-nine percent of the stuff in the tabloids is made up."
Sources close to Jenner said the former Olympic gold medalist does not want to be a woman, but is obsessed with looking young and thinks plastic surgery is the answer. "[Bruce has a] Michael Jackson-like obsession with plastic surgery," said a source.
When asked why he got his Adam's apple flattened, Bruce told Us, "I just didn't like my trachea." Jenner, who won the gold medal in the decathlon at the 1976 Montreal Olympics, has been tabloid fodder and the butt of jokes for his numerous plastic surgeries over the years. He got a nose job and a partial face-lift in 1984, and a second corrective face-lift in 2009.
Sources said Jenner has always been self-conscious about his looks. He previously revealed he suffered from deep insecurities as a child stemming from his dyslexia. Experts say Bruce's chronic plastic surgeries are a symptom of body dysmorphic disorder.
Meanwhile, numerous media reports say Bruce is quitting his family's hit reality TV show, "Keeping Up With the Kardashians," after filming on this season ends.
