Britney Spears has not only been rehearsing her iconic dance moves. According to her manager, Spears has been rehearsing her vocal cords, too.
“She does choreography and vocal coaching every day,” Rudolph said in an interview with Billboard. “The vocal coach is really just to strengthen her voice and get her to a point where she can go out there every night and do a full show.”
Spears has long been criticized for lip-synching during her live performances during promotions and while on tour.
“It’s hard for the public to fully understand what goes on when you get on stage and you’re dancing full out during a song,” Rudolph said. “No matter what anyone says, there’s not a single artist who goes out there and does full choreography and is singing without a vocal track underneath them at the same time. It’s physically impossible.”
Spears will be singing much of her Las Vegas residency, scheduled to kick off on Dec. 27, live, according to Rudolph. Even if that means she has a backing track just in case.
“The idea is to try to get her pretty close to 100 percent,” he said. “There might be some numbers where she’s full out dancing with a (vocal) track underneath her, but there wont be any lip-syncing across the board on anything.”
