Media moguls are well aware that celebrity fans love drama. However, is it right to fuel the drama? Britney Spears is cleaning up her life. However, this new found maturity comes with a price; she is facing more disappointment. Contactmusic suggests that Britney has been fired from X factor. "The X Factor" is losing ratings. The show did need revamping.
“According to Us Weekly, producer Simon Cowell was hoping that Britney would be the one to bring the “X Factor” to the mix with her crazy antics… Cowell decided that his $15 million investment in hiring the pop star hadn’t been worth it after all and she will be departing from the show after this season.” He is trying to get Rihanna on the show. Simon will also lose L.A. Reid this year.
Drama does keep these singing shows alive; the media moguls know it. It was cute when Simon and Paula Abdul flirted or locked heads on American Idol, but the cat fight between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj was way beyond cute or acceptable. The American Idol season will not start until January. Yet diva dramas have already been released. According to TMZ, Nicki Minaj allegedly threatened Mariah Carey’s life. Executive director Nigel Lythgoe tells TMZ, "The statement [that Nicki made a death threat] is absolute rubbish.”
Whether the death threat was made or not, whether the threat was made in anger and Nicki Minaj really didn’t mean it or whether it was never made at all is not the issue here. The story got out and the fans went wild. Is this the type of drama Simon was looking for?
Though it is not likely that Simon would expect that kind of sensationalism, why should Britney Spears be the scapegoat for The X Factor’s low rating? Britney Spears has come a long way. She first appeared on Star Search singing "Love Can Build A Bridge." She was only 10 years old at the time. America fell in love with this little girl.
Then that little girl grew up and we got to see the wild side of Britney. Now it is time to let her grow up and accept the responsibilities of a woman. She should not be penalized for trying to get her life together.
