If you were to ask Ricky Ricardo, he would likely say that Ryan Braun still has some "splainin' to do."
Well, he didn't exactly cop to anything, yet.
In February, he will take the field for the Brew Crew as they try to resurrect the franchise to playoff-worthy status.
But, Braun has yet to give what most feel is a genuine apology for his actions.
Braun was in the Milwaukee area on Wednesday to help distribute food baskets for the Hunger Task Force at Miller Park to the area needy for Thanksgiving.
He faced a phalanx of media who peppered him with questions.
Braun danced around the questions.
He bobbed. He weaved. He did a rope-a-dope.
But Braun never said those precious words.
Fielding the inevitable questions about his situation, Braun would only say that he is just going forward.
He said he regrets his actions but is just moving forward.
But he hasn't said: "I'M SORRY!"
At least not in that straightforward a manner.
Please, we beg you.
Just say it, Ryan.
Say it in Latin: "Mea Culpa!"
Say it in Spanish: "Lo siento!" o "Desculpeme!"
Sing it like Brenda Lee: "I'm sorry, so sorry!"
Hire a skywriter and have him fly over Miller Park (with the roof open of course) that reads: "I'm sorry.!"
But please, just say those simple little words and move on.
It won't hurt a bit and it will help you a whole lot.
Know that if you do this, a good deal of your once-gargantuan fan base will accept your heartfelt words.
The media may even let you go if you, once and for all, say: "I'M SORRY!"
You're scheduled to be at the big, off-season fan event in Milwaukee in January.
That would be a perfect time and place to say it.
Say it already!
The reason what you have said thus far rings a little hollow is because of your press conference before spring training in 2012.
That was when that you looked into the camera and told the world that you were the victim.
At no time, you alleged, did you take anything when you tested positive at the end of the previous season.
It was a chain-of-custody issue because of the sample-handler's' failure to ship in a timely manner.
You were given the benefit of the doubt and a lot of folks were back on board with you.
Braun was nothing if not adamant about this.
Over and over, when asked about this, Braun would defer, saying he addressed it already.
Braun has been away from the spotlight since he took his medicine last summer.
He wrote a letter as a sort of apology.
He was calling season ticket holders with his regrets.
This won't go away unless and until you say it.
No matter how much you want it to...IT JUST WON'T.
If you really want to move forward, Ryan, please apologize!
