With just one week until the Feb. 19 lineup announcement, Bonnaroo has released the second to last entry in the annual Bonnaroo Lineup Clue Game on Feb. 11. The game gives fans a chance to get a possible glimpse of some of the Bonnaroo 2014 artists by posting hints in the form of pictures on the official Bonnaroo Instagram page. You can find our reports on the previous clues here.
Bonnaroo saved the hardest clue yet for close to the end. Today's clue is an extreme close up of something. What is still a matter for debate among fans. The radio clue is "What's the bigger picture here", furthering the idea that it's a piece of a fuller picture. You can see the clue here.
While there isn't even a consensus about what the picture is of, much less what band it refers to, fans on Bonnaroo social media and the Inforoo message board have thrown out several suggestions. Here are the most popular:
Bonnaroo veteran Beck is one of the more popular guesses. This comes from fans who believe the picture is of a beer in a frosted mug. As Beck's is a popular brand of beer and some fans have found a Beck's ad that looks like it could be what the clue was taken from. Beck was a pre-headliner at Bonnaroo 2006 and has been on many fans' wishlists since that time.
Many see what they believe to be ice in the center of the picture, pointing to what looks like the kind of frozen bubbles found in ice. This is leading some to believe that N.W.A. alum Ice Cube could be coming to Bonnaroo. Ice Cube is touring this year so a Bonnaroo performance is not out of the question.
Bassnectar is already heavily rumored to be the big name EDM act at Bonnaroo 2014, so his name is quick to come up in clue guesses. This is one of the more credible ones. The honey color of the liquid could be nectar, leading some to guess Bassnectar is the answer. Bassnectar is a Bonnaroo veteran and would fit nicely in the Which Stage Late Night EDM slot occupied by the likes of Skrillex and Pretty Lights in recent years.
My Morning Jacket
My Morning Jacket are a long time favorite of Bonnaroo's organizers and fans and, having not played since 2011, are due for a return. Some fans think the image is a closeup of a portion of My Morning Jacket's "Chocolate and Ice" EP.
