In this show a new intern comes in by the name of Oliver Wells and he gets under Bones’s skin with his unusual observations and impressive logic. It forces her to consider scientific theories she would have previously ruled out. Meanwhile, Booth teases Bone’s idea that time travel is a possible explanation during the murder investigation.
The show opens with a farm sifting his farm. He goes over a skeleton. Booth and Bones arrive at the scene. He is talking about an idea to invest their money. Hodgins says that the victim died 5 days earlier. Bones thinks that the coyotes ran off with the victim’s head.
At the local diner, Booth keeps talking to Bones about his idea for investing the money. A man comes in saying he’s got a surprise for Bones and Booth pulls a gun on him asking for the bag. He tosses the bag and the victim’s skull comes out. He says he’s Bones’s new intern.
Bones goes to talk to Cam about why she didn’t tell him about the new intern. She says she emailed her. She thinks that Bones will like him. Wells talks to Bones about the skull and says tht the coyotes are the ones that took the skull.
Sweets and Booth talk about the new intern and how he got the skull back. Booth says that the victim’s, Benji Garcia, brother owns a body shop.
They go and see him. Another worker says that someone might kill him for his truck. They mention his ex-girlfriend Courtney.
Hodgins/Wells talk. They find an indention in the skull, but it’s not enough to kill him.
Sweets/Booth talk to Courtney. She says that she broke up with him because of his truck. She says that he spent his spare time in science and time travel. She says the last time they talked was last Saturday night, the night he died. Outside the office, Sweets tells Booth that he thinks that she could kill the victim.
Bones catches Wells eating string cheese and he says that he eats when he’s thinking. He says that the victim has scoliosis and had an injury. Bones tells him to find cause of death.
Hodgins brings Angie a coffee and then talk about the victim. She says Courtney’s alibi checks out. She shows Hodgins Benji’s work in going back in time. She says that he logged in with a Scott Hunter, a professor at the local college.
Sweets talks to Booth about the desire to time travel. He thinks that he wanted to go back to stop his dad from leaving. Booth shows Sweets a file about Scott Hunter. He says that he was supposed to meet Benji the night he was killed.
Wells asks Bones a would-you-rather question and she refuses to answer. He says that she’s narrow-minded, in so many words. He finds rib damage that could have ruptured the liver.
Bones/Booth talk about Scott. Booth think that Scott may have accidentally killed Benji but didn’t want to risk the police not believe him because he accidentally electrocuted someone before. She talks to him about Wells and that he’s right and she’s narrow-minded.
Booth/Bones see Scott. Bones asks to see his lab. She found a frayed wire and thinks that it could have caused the fracture of his ribs.
Hodgins/Wells tests the theory that the electric shock could crack Benji’s ribs. It didn’t crack the ribs, but Wells suggest a different kind of shock.
Angie tells Cam that he received a call from someone with a disposable phone. They see that he was heading north but his body was found far south of where he was heading. Hodgins comes in and tells them about the soil found in Benji’s clothes. He says that his body was moved.
Cam joins Hodgins/Wells in their new experiment. He thinks that if the victim was shot, it could have caused the rib damage. It explains Benji’s rib fracture.
Booth/Bones go out to the strawberry farm that they think Benji was killed at. They go to the bar and find Benji’s truck. Bones discovered another dead body. He has all the same injuries as Benji. Booth says she’s describing Benji but twenty years older.
Bones/Cam/Wells are looking at the body. Cam says that the victim’s been dead for 6 days. Wells thinks that the new victim is the same person as Benji. Bones and Wells start arguing about the possibility. Bones/Booth talk about Wells. Booth doesn’t like him and Bones defends him. Booth thinks the two victims are two different people. Bones gets a call from Wells.
At the lab, Wells discovered the victim had an injury in his ankle. Bones thinks that the victim’s are related. Cam comes in and says that the 2nd victim is Benji’s father.
Sweets talks with Benji’s brother about finding their father. He says he didn’t know that Benji’s been talking to their dad. He says they told Benji that the father was dead. He think that the father needed to be bailed out and contacted Benji.
Wells talks with Angie. She thinks that someone stood over them and shot them. Angie tells him to stop being a douche. He discovers that they’ve been hit with each other’s head and the bullet wounds line up.
Booth/Bones talk about time travel at home. He says he would go back and stop Lincoln from being shot. Bones says that she wouldn’t go back. She wants to live in the moment. Booth gets a call saying they found the father’s drug dealer and he works for Benji’s brothers auto shop.
Booth meets with the drug dealer, Sydney (the one that mentioned that someone would kill Benji for his truck). But he keeps saying that he has nothing to do with the murders. Wells/Bones try and find if a police baton caused more then the knee damage on Benji’s father’s knee. But they’re isn’t.
Sweets/Booth go to the auto shop to talk with Benji’s brother. He says that he slammed the door of the car on Benji. He followed Benji to the barn and Benji stepped in front of his father to prevent him from killing the father.
Hodgins walks in on Wells watching a tape of Booth. Bones comes in and they talk.
Bones tells Booth about how she made Wells feel bad about himself at home. She says that she thinks that Wells is smarter then her.
