For the cause, he has nearly tripled the amount he hoped to raise. His goal is now about $2,500 and donations have come from as far away as Toronto.
Originally, Dan Cope had hoped to make 500 pounds to take the provocative leap out of an airplane in the cold air at 10,000 feet in November. He got international attention and the donations keep coming in.
"Yowser!" he just posted on the website for his donations. "The sponsors have been overwhelming! I can't offer anymore to hit the next target of £1500 (I can't jump without the parachute??), but please keep up the epic momentum and let's really make something special happen. If you are donating from a different country, let me know where on the comments! :D"
He also teased: "It's a long shot, but, if I manage to raise £1000, the video of the skydive will be uploaded onine...goodbye any chance of a career..." Well, he's well beyond that.
The Donna Louise Trust (which provides wonderful hospice care for local children and their families), will be the recipient for Dan's 100th skydive. He was originally planning on doing it in only his boxer shorts, but then he raised the stakes by lowering his pants.
Dan joked that the cold air may not make him very photographable. He said, "I might not be...looking my best, if you know what I mean! But it's worth it for a brilliant charity. So if you want me to bare all across the skies, or just fancy laughing at me and my full-body goosebumps, please give generously!"
He knew that the idea would get people to donate, and it has sparked international attention. He said he plans to do a few somersaults on the way down.
