LARGO - Another local live music bar has announced that they will be closing their doors for good. Billy G'z Lounge, located on Ulmerton Road in Largo, announced yesterday that they will be closing their doors for good early Sunday morning at 3:00am.
Billy G'z Vice President, William “Billy G” Guarino, publicly posted the following announcement yesterday on the bars official facebook page regarding the closure of the popular bar...
“To all my friends, patrons, new friends and entertainers (bands of Billy G’z), today I am informing you all that due mainly for health reasons I will be closing Billy G’z Lounge Saturday night [at] 3:00am.
I would like to thank these people for supporting Billy G’z, spending their hard earned money at the “G” spot, because we [k]now times are tough and it’s hard to make that money!
I would like to thank all the bands that we had here for you[‘re] excellent work and professionalism. You guys and girls kick ass and I have enjoyed all. I do apologize for the short notice, I hope I have not put a hardship on any of you.
I would like to thank my partner Rob Ratcliffe (a friend of 23 years) for the oppertunity to go into business with a great man! You have been very supportive and a pleasure to work with. You the man! Then I would like to thank Ginger, Cory, Fish, Tracy, Nikki, and Jim Best for all their support and hard work. Not only are these good employees but great friends.
Most of all I would like to thank my girl “Diane”. I have known Diane for 9 years now and cannot thank her enough or have paid her enough for all her hard work and dedication. Billy G’z was successful only because of her relentless hard work and service. She worked day and night promoting Billy G’z. I am sorry I only informed her yesterday on the closing. She is the bomb! I wish her all the best.
Come celebrate our time together with the Sons of Nuns Saturday 25th. Just remember we’ll always be your favorite “G Spot” God Bless!” - William “Billy G” Guarino, Billy G'z Vice President
Tampa Bay's Sons of Nuns will be the last band to perform at Billy G'z when they perform tonight at 10:00pm. The show will also be the first full show for Sons of Nuns new guitarist Mike May. By joining Sons of Nuns, May reunites with his former Bad Neighbors band mates, Dennis Daley (lead vocals), Lee Fenical (guitar), and Sammy Chaput (bass), along with Sons of Nuns founder, Cliff Greene (drums).
