It was a big week for gel nail polish as RCM, Red Carpet Manicure, made another run during NYFW, this time complementing the fall fashions of Noon By Noor at The Studio in Lincoln Center, New York City on Friday, Feb. 8, braving the blizzard of 2013.
Coming on the heels of its New York Fashion Week catwalk debut as the official nail sponsor for Nichols K, Red Carpet Manicure, the at-home-DIY gel manicure kit, graced the fingernails of fashion models displaying the 2013 Fall Collection of Noon By Noor.
Long Island native, Elle, celebrity manicurist to Jennifer Lopez and Leighton Meester, was so inspired by the Noon By Noor Fall 2013 Collection that she opted for nails that would complement the look, rather than compete with it. Using Red Carpet Manicure gel nail polish colors “Black Stretch Limo,” “You Like Me, You Really Like Me” and “Draped in Rubies”, Elle and her nail team created romantic, sultry and feminine burgundy gel nails paneled with matte texture, visible in the slideshow.
Backstage of the Noon By Noor showing at NYFW, Elle answered a few questions regarding the recent media attention gel manicures have received. Her advice to prevent damage to the nail during the removal process is to make sure the polish has soaked in acetone long enough to be released. The shine should be buffed off first, then soak for ten or more minutes until the gel nail polish crumbles, similar to crackle nail polish. At that point the remaining polish should be able to be wiped away with the fingers without the use of any instruments.
Elle then detailed her advanced technique in achieving the runway looks the models wore for the Noon by Noor Fall Fashion Show during NYFW, which can be done at home with the following instructions using the Red Carpet Manicure gel nail polish system.
- Follow the nail instructions in the RCM kit to prep then proceed with below.
- Apply “Black Stretch Limo” gel nail polish first, and then cure under the LED lamp.
- “You Like Me, You Really Like Me is applied next and cured.
- Apply “Brilliance” topcoat and cure.
- Wipe away the inhibition layer using Purify, then lightly file to buff down the gel to create the matte effect.
- Using a nail art brush dipped in the “Brilliance” topcoat, create the designs, filling in with “Draped in Rubies”, the glitter polish, to accent some or all of the nails.
All of the gel manicure tips used for the Noon By Noor Fall 2013 show were created off site and then applied to the hands of the models for another RCM runway extravaganza at New York Fashion Week.
