Big oil asking to violate local air pollution regulations again this week

The San Joaquin Valley APCD Hearing Board will be meeting this Wednesday, March 13, to determine whether it will grant permission for several companies to violate local air pollution control regulations.

According to its agenda, just published on the APCD's website, the following three oil companies and a cogeneration company have submitted petitions for short variances from APCD requirements:

  • Pixley Cogen Partners, LLC

11222 Road 120

Pixley, CA 93256

  • Vintage Production California, LLC

Kern Front Oil Field

Lost Hills, CA

Section 32 Gas Plant

Belridge Oil Field

26C Oil Cleaning Plant

Midway Sunset Oil Field

Variances such as these may be granted provided that certain determinations can be made by the Hearing Board, according to California law.

The hearing is open to the public, who may ask questions, challenge, or support any of the petitions.
