Derek Osgood has responded to a few fan questions regarding the upcoming Playstation 3 exclusive video game, “Beyond: Two Souls.” The associate product marketing manager at Sony Computer Entertainment America was asked in the comments section of the Playstation Blog on Sept. 5 if support for the Playstation Move controller would be added into the action-adventure video game in the future.
Derek Osgood responded that the development team has no plans to add support for the motion controller due to time constraints. You can check out some screens from “Beyond: Two Souls” in the slideshow near the top of this article and his comments below:
At the moment, there’s no plans for Move support. We love the Move as a peripheral and a lot of people loved it in Heavy Rain, but timing became a factor during production and thus Move support was one of the non-critical features that couldn’t be implemented.
The manager did mention that players will be able to utilize the new Beyond Touch feature to control the game. However, that option won’t be available in the upcoming playable demo:
Another bonus for those of you with wives/gfs/other who can’t handle DualShock controls, the Beyond Touch feature we announced at GamesCom will allow them to play with a simplified version of the interface via phone or tablet. Won’t be available in the demo unfortunately though.
Derek Osgood was also asked about “Beyond: Two Souls” potentially coming out on the Playstation Store on the first day of release. He responded with the following statement:
Can’t confirm anything on digital release at this point.
Finally, the manager at Sony also commented about the potential PS4 port. Derek Osgood mentioned that, even if the development team decides to port “Beyond: Two Souls,” it won’t be available for a long time. You can find his explanation below:
Sorry, lot of questions on this, we know you guys are curious. What I can tell you is that if there is a PS4 version of Beyond, it won’t be available for some time. The team just finished the PS3 version and still have work to do on the pre-order DLC.
“Beyond: Two Souls” is slated to come out exclusively for the Playstation 3 on Oct. 8. You can pre-order the product from Amazon in the following link: “Beyond: Two Souls”
