In New Jersey that designation goes to the Asbury Park Half Marathon.
According to Emily Faherty the article’s author describing the Asbury Park Half, “This flat and fast race is in the land of Bruce Springsteen, with local icon Tillie as its funny-faced mascot. You’ll run through the small area beach towns, along the historic boardwalk and finish with the “RunAPalooza” post-race party.”
Some other half marathons named in the article included: The New York City Half, The Napa to Sonoma Wine Country Half, The Disney Princess Half Marathon, Rock ‘n’ Roll New Orleans Half, and the “Gore-Tex” Philadelphia Half Marathon. Some pretty good company.
The Asbury Park Half Marathon will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014. It is staged by the Jersey Shore Running Club in cooperation with other local running clubs and community volunteer groups. It is a benefit for Special Olympics New Jersey.
It is part of RunAPalooza a celebration of running at the Jersey Shore .Iin addition to the half it includes, The Jersey Shore Relay Marathon and Jersey Shore 5k. Registration and information is available on the RunAPalooza web site.
