Richard Porter of Beatles In London.com, who came to New York for the Beatles 50th anniversary events and the Fest for Beatles Fans, told Beatles Examiner Feb. 14 when he and fellow Beatles tour guides Jackie Spencer from Liverpool and Susan Ryan from New York got together for a tour of Beatles sites in New York City something very unusual happened.

“We started out at the Dakota. Even though I had been there years before, it was every emotional seeing where John lived and died. We then went to Central Park and Strawberry Field, the special area to commemorate John. After a very nice stroll through Central Park we came to the Plaza Hotel, where, of course, the Beatles stayed 50 years ago.

“While we were outside the Plaza, a white feather fell on me, and was caught by Jackie. Julian Lennon once said 'Dad once said to me that should he pass away, if there was some way of letting me know he was going to be OK – that we were all going to be OK – the message would come to me in the form of a white feather.'”

Porter says that at the sight of the feather, “We all got rather emotional....”

"The feather flew right past my face, landed on Richard, and then into Jackie's hand," said Susan Ryan. "There were over 40 witnesses -- and being Beatles fans all, they ALL knew what it meant!"

The tour was the first time the three guides had been together in the same place, he says.
