Beatles manager Brian Epstein will receive the Ahmet Ertegun Award for non-performers with the 2014 class of the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame, Rolling Stone reported Dec. 16. Also receiving the same award will be former Rolling Stones manager Andrew Loog Oldham. The induction ceremony will be held at Brooklyn's Barclays Center on April 10, 2014.

Vivek Tiwary, author of the upcoming "The Fifth Beatle" bio-film on Epstein, told Beatles Examiner Monday night, ""I am absolutely thrilled that 2014 will see Brian Epstein receive some of the recognition he has so long deserved as one of Rock and Roll's greats. And I think he would have been particularly pleased to be honored at the very same time as his friend and fellow visionary Andrew Loog Oldham. Congratulations, Brian and Andrew!"

The musical acts to be honored will be KISS, Nirvana, Peter Gabriel, Hall and Oates, Cat Stevens and Linda Ronstadt, the magazine said. The E Street Band will also be given the Award for Musical Excellence.

Epstein's induction has been the source of much campaigning by Beatles fans. A graphic novel “The Fifth Beatle,” and the upcoming film of the same name, which will begin shooting in 2014, are part of the effort in trying to secure Epstein a more prominent place in music history.

In a 1964 interview, Epstein described seeing the Beatles for the first time. He described them as "four young men on stage rather scruffily dressed in a nice possible way, or I should say in the most attractive way, black leather jackets and jeans, long hair, of course, and rather untidy stage presentation, not terribly aware and not caring very much what they looked like.”

But he said, “I think they cared more even then what they sounded like.”
