The New York Post reported Jan. 1 that Paul McCartney spent New Year's at a party at the Hotel Taiwana in St Bart's. "After midnight, McCartney brought the house down by spontaneously jumping onstage to sing Wings' tune 'Goodnight Tonight,' and luxury developer Izak Senbahar accompanied him on bongos." Cool song: It was announced Jan. 2 by Little Steven's Underground Garage that “Smart Phone,” by Brian Ray's group the Bayonets made fourth place in its The Underground Garage Coolest Song In The World for 2013 poll. The winner was Joan Jett and the Blackhearts' “Any Weather.” Placing just ahead of the Bayonets were "Johnny Sincere" by the Deadbeat Poets and “Start Sinning” by John and Brittany. Also on the list was “Like Nothing That You've Seen” by former Paul Revere and the Raiders lead singer Mark Lindsay.
Happy birthday: Happy birthday to Sir George Martin, who was born on Jan. 3, 1926.
