The chart statistics for the Beatles on Billboard were mostly down for the issue of March 29 that became public on Friday. The lone exception to the down movement was in the Catalog Albums chart where the Beatles “1” moved up to #6 from #10 last week. But further down the chart, “Abbey Road” was at #43, down from #39. On The Billboard 200, Beatles “1” again had the highest spot at #95, down two spots from #93 from the March 22 chart. “Abbey Road” was at the very bottom at #200, down from #191.
Tabloid craziness: The UK Daily Mail has provoked a fan fury with a "world exclusive" story March 22 that Linda McCartney may have considered leaving Paul. First, consider the tabloid source and second, the source of the story, who made tapes of his conversations with Linda, is described as a “close friend and confidant.” And some of those commenting on Facebook said these tapes had been known of in the past. And we're sure he provided this story for free, right?
Another Lennon letter: Writings by John Lennon appear to be popping up all over, first with the letter we wrote about that May Pang has questioned, and this one, that appeared on Facebook, with John telling Elephants Memory their association was over. At least he was nice about it.
Mark Rivera on “The Tonight Show”: Mark Rivera, who you can hear this weekend on our latest “Things We Said Today” radio show with Ken Michaels, was on “The Tonight Show” Thursday night. “Last night with #FallonTonight doin' some "Hot Sax" w/ @billyjoel Jimmy Do ya Love it Peaceandgratitude Always...MR,” he posted on Twitter. Mark also posted a picture of himself tearing out a note with Fallon dancing next to him. You can see Billy Joel, Mark and the band playing a steaming version of “You May Be Right” with some help from Jimmy Fallon (he can sing!) at this link on NBC.com. And don't miss "Things We Said Today" at noon and midnight ET Sunday on Fab4Radio.com, then on our Podbean site.
David Brenner and John Lennon: This weekend's edition of “Dennis Mitchell's 'Breakfast With the Beatles” will include Dennis' interview with the late David Brenner, who tells how he met and befriended John Lennon. You can hear it on air on various affiliates around the country and it'll be posted Sunday at www.beatlesradioshow.com and on iTunes.
Sold out: Tickets are sold out for Yoko Ono's March 23 show in London that will also include Steve Shelley and Thurston Moore.
