Tom Looney, co-owner in the Gypsy Queen Food Trucks and former co-owner in Helen’s Garden has opened Bar Liquourice in the old Lime location with Jeff Cahill and Ed Scherer. They quietly opened their doors this past Thursday and are ready for you to come in, pull a bar stool and visit.
Bar Liquorice’s webpage states, “We bring you Liquorice, small, dark and handsome. A brand new bar experience where visionaries, dockworkers, artists and humbugs can savor our craft spirits and food. Come sit, sip and savor our classic cocktail culture, inside or out.”
They are offering specialty crafted cocktails like Manhattan LUX to Downton Abbey and on the lighter side Limoncello Collins and Sangria Blanca. Choose from wines by the glass or bottle and a rotating selection of local drafts to whet your whistle.
Got the munchies? The Bar Liquorice’s Nosh menu has me intrigued with Banh Mi - Pulled pork, pate, Asian slaw and Sriracha aioli on baguette or Croque Monsignor - Classic French pressed smoked ham and Gruyere on farm bread. The noshes are panini pressed sandwiches along with three creative salads: the Italian with shaved fennel, grapefruit, apple and pomegranate coulis and shaved pecorino, the Persian with mesclun greens, mango, Bulgarian feta and lime vinaigrette and the Pulled Chicken with toasted walnuts, roasted tomato, frisee and shaved red onion.
There are small plates as well; fruit and cheese, charcuterie boards or the bruschetta of the day. So nibble, drink, chat, solve the problems of the world or laugh – there is a stool waiting for you.
