A malfunction in an oil pipeline that transports crude oil from the Bakersfield area to Los Angeles and beyond resulted in a 10,000 gallon geyser and knee deep flows last night in Glendale. The spill happened shortly after midnight in the Atwood Village area, contaminating an industrial area that includes an adult entertainment establishment, The Gentleman's Club.

Early reports indicated that the spill caused the club to be evacuated and resulted in the hospitalization of two people. Additionally, several streets had to be closed.

According to an updated report filed with California's Office of Emergency Services, the spill resulted from a valve failure on an above ground pipeline. The equipment served a pumping station owned by Pacific Pipeline Systems located at 5145 West San Fernando Road, Los Angeles.

Emergency crews stopped the release and built an emergency dyke to contain the spilled crude oil. Initial reports from first responders stated that nothing had entered any storm drains, however, all the drains in the area will be inspected to verify that.
